One of my favourite parts of being a graphic designer is getting to work with local people to help their businesses grow and flourish, and it’s an extra special treat when my clients just happen to be good friends as well. Recently I’ve been working with Vicki from Casting Little Memories in Portsmouth to design a new logo and branding for them.
Casting Little Memories are a bespoke body casting service based in Portsmouth, they cover a wide area including Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey. Vicki creates the most beautiful and intricate casts to help capture special memories that will last a lifetime. Particularly cute are her baby ones where you can get your baby’s hands or feet cast and framed so you can remember just how tiny they were! Vicki also does stunning clasped hand casts which are the perfect gifts for couples or families and if you want to go big, she can do full body casts too.
I started working with Casting Little Memories by designing them a new logo. Their old one was just written in a nice swirly typeface and while there was nothing particularly wrong with it, it didn’t tell you anything about who they are or what they do. We experimented with different hand drawings, heart shapes and thumb prints and refined the new logo to a cute little symbol of a hand print combined with a heart shape. We also came up with a sophisticated colour scheme for the brand consisting of dark grey, pale blue and baby pink.
We also decided to redesign Vicki’s existing business cards to bring them in line with the new branding and went for a thick 400gsm card stock with matt lamination, which really makes the images pop.
People often buy casts from Casting Little Memories as gifts for loved ones, so we designed some luxurious gift vouchers as well. These are also printed on 400gsm card stock and come with a really nice lined envelope. I haven’t used lined envelopes before but they really do take the gift vouchers from ‘nice’ to ‘wow’!
