If you’ve seen my blog or Instagram before, I’m sure you’ll know that I’m a big fan of all things Southsea. One of my favourite things about living here is the number of local, independent, small businesses, and I love being able to support them by shopping with them and shouting about their lovely stuff!
This Christmas I’m aiming to shop local and shop independent for gifts – not only is it great to support small businesses but you can find some beautiful and unique gifts that you know you won’t find anywhere else! Today I thought I’d share some of my favourite gift ideas from some wonderful Southsea-based small businesses – it was so hard to narrow it down to a short(ish) list! 🙂
1. Sunshine candle by Angela Chick
We all love a good candle and this one looks very good. It’s hand-poured with natural soy wax and the smell sounds like it’ll transport you directly to lazy summer evenings on the beach.
2. Mini monstera necklace by Mica Peet
Mica Peet has a seriously cool range of jewellery – mainly inspired by plants and pink. This mini monstera necklace just looks so cute and I’m particularly in love with the green one! (Hint hint!)
3. Glazed ceramic pot by Rose Clover
Rose Clover is a talented local florist and she’s just opened up a new shop on Albert Road which is definitely worth checking out. These glazed ceramic pots complete with cactus would be a very welcome addition to the plant collection.
4. Fabric heart banner by Gingerthread House
Kate from Gingerthread House designs the coolest products, I love her quirky and funny illustrations and the way she uses colour. This fabric heart banner would look great on my wall!
5. Floral mini spa gift set by Southsea Bathing Hut
I have quite dry and sensitive skin so any products which only use natural ingredients are a winner for me. Southsea Bathing Hut have a wide range of soaps and skincare that are all natural and vegan and best of all, are inspired by life near the sea. This mini spa gift set includes a great selection of some of their best products.
I’m well aware that this list is by no means exhaustive so if you know of other Southsea-based small businesses that you love and want to support this Christmas, please let me know and I’d love to discover more!
